Quilting Cottons to Face Masks!

Cotton masks aren’t medical-grade or substitutes for N95 masks. But wearing a mask helps lessen the chance of transmission exposure to virus’s and reminds us to not touch our face.

Create masks using two-layer cotton using quality quilting cottons, basic sewing machine skills, 1/8” or 1/4” elastic or ties (made from wide bias tape or 2.5” wide strips of fabric.) Machine wash your mask after each exposure.

I have made a assortment of different styles of Face Masks. Hope they will inspire and you too will do what you can to make everyone safer in these perilous times.

Tie on masks seem to be best for those that have to wear for long periods of time. The elastic over the ear may be uncomfortable for long duration but handy for a quick trip to the grocery. Elastic that runs over the head is another style.

Elastic seems to be in short supply. Click here for 1/4” Elastic sold by the yard.
