Simple and easy to make a piece of flat felt. Beginner project to make felted wool. Use for placemats or background for appliqué or needle felting.
You will need Carded wool roving. Merino felts the quickest and smoothest. Corriedale wool also will felt but with a bit more texture.
Dishwashing liquid, hot water, drink bottle, towel and bubble wrap.
Merino Cross Micron is around 25.5. Softer than Corriedale 27.5m wool, but not as soft as purebred Merino which is 21.5 microns.

Easy to spin wool into yarn.
Combed top is the preparation for handspinning worsted yarns. Can be spun into semi worsted yarn by spinning off the side or splitting the fibers. To get true worsted yarns one must spin off the end, keeping the fibers perfectly aligned.
There is approximately 4-5 feet of fiber per 1 oz.
Projects made with this wool is Handwashable. Lay flat to dry.
Felts well. Whether you are making traditional "wet-rubbed" felt or dry felting using a felting needle.

Although Artfelt paper looks just like interfacing that dissolves in water, artfelt® Paper is quite different. This paper was specifically designed for this method of felting and is the only “dissolving” product available that will ONLY dissolve with boiling water, not simply water. This is very important distinction, as your piece needs to be wet to felt.

Needle felting is easy and quick with endless possibilities to create beautiful and unique flat and 3-D art forms.

Reverse Barb The barbs go the opposite direction which results in fiber being pulled out. This is useful to create a fluffy finish on well felted pieces.

Barbs on 3 sides. This is a sturdy needle good for working with course fibres and firmly attaching pieces. Not good for detail or a neat surface.

Barbs on 3 sides. A good needle for making the bulk of a 3D piece and again, attaching pieces well. Not good for any detail work.

Synthrapol is a special detergent used to remove unattached excess dye from hand dyed fabrics. It also removes sizing from fabric prior to dyeing. It will allow even color when used in the dye bath.
Prewashing in Synthrapol helps remove impurities that can interfere with the dye and cause uneven dyeing.
Synthrapol as the afterwash keeps loose dye particles of dye in suspension so they don't stain other areas of the fabric or bleed.
(2 oz) of Synthrapol per full washing machine load for standard fabrics like cotton or rayon and 1/8 cup (1 oz) for finer fabrics like silk.

Simple and easy to make a piece of flat felt. Beginner project to make felted wool. Use for placemats or background for appliqué or needle felting.
You will need Carded wool roving. Merino felts the quickest and smoothest. Corriedale wool also will felt but with a bit more texture.
Dishwashing liquid, hot water, drink bottle, towel and bubble wrap.

Merino is the softest in sheep wool fiber. Absolutely wonderful handspun into yarn, felted or used for blending your one of kind yarn or felt.

This fiber is prepared into a wool top. The fibers are combed in one direction. Perfect if handspinning worsted yarns, by spinning off the end, keeping your fibers parallel. Can be easily spun into a semi worsted (lofty woolen type) yarn over the fold or side of the preparation. Excellent fiber for blending colors or exotic fibers like angora, silk, kid mohair, cashmere, alpaca… If re-carded, drum or hand cards, will produce a roving for woolen spinning.
