This natural white wool has been treated to prevent it from shrinking or felting. Can be Machine Washed gentle cycle after spun into yarn.
Superwash is wool treated with a chemical process to enhance its properties, making it smoother, stronger, and easier to wash. The process involves removing the natural scales from the wool fibers and may include adding a thin polymer coating. This results in a yarn that is less itchy, machine washable, and a smooth sheen.
If hand dyeing handle unspun wool top gently. Once wet tends to separate easily. Hint: Lingerie mesh bags are very helpful.
Weights measured are approximate. I use a electronic digital scale that weighs to one tenth of one ounce. Due to humidity or the limits of my scale the weight could vary more or less.
