For hand dyeing, felting, spinning into yarn, add to fiber blends or natural stuffing for dolls and pillows.
Wool has been scoured or washed to remove most of the dirt and oils. No harsh chemicals are used, so expect small pieces of vegetation and a bit of lanolin. The process of hand dyeing, which includes very hot water, washes and rinses will remove remaining soil.
If you plan to use as stuffing or un-dyed recommend additional wash to remove last of the dirt and oil.
Lock length is approximate. Each fleece is shorn from the same sheep. Identified by letter.
Fleece A - Soft not very curly. 4” locks.
Fleece B - Softer than A, 4” locks
Fleece C - Curly Flat Locks, 6” locks
Fleece D - Similar to C but a bit nicer, 6” Lock
Fleece E - Similar to B
The Bluefaced Leicester is classified as a longwool breed with a staple length of 3-6 inches, a fleece weight of 2½-4½ lbs., and a fiber diameter of 56s–60s count, or 24-28 microns. It creates high-quality semi-luster yarn with soft hand, beautiful drape, and excellent dyeing properties.
Price is determined by the quality of the wool fleece. A more expensive fleece will have more character, length of the fiber, consistence of the crimp and be finer compared to the other fleeces.

Blue Face Leicester Wool Top is a joy to Spin! is a fine, semi-lustrous longwool with a staple length about 6 inches. One of easiest fibers to spin. Quite Lofty, soft, yet strong!
This natural white wool has been treated to prevent it from shrinking or felting. Can be Machine Washed gentle cycle after spun into yarn.
Superwash AKA Mercerized wool is wool treated with a chemical process to enhance its properties, making it smoother, stronger, and easier to wash. The process involves removing the natural scales from the wool fibers and may include adding a thin polymer coating. This results in a yarn that is less itchy, machine washable, and a smooth sheen.
If hand dyeing handle unspun wool top gently. Once wet tends to separate easily. Hint: Lingerie mesh bags are very helpful.

Micron 27-30. Roving, Sliver. Staple length approx. 4.5 inches.
Corriedale wool has a even crimp, smooth and is easy to spin. You can spin a fine to medium woolen or semi-worsted yarn. Will bulk after washing and has good elasticity. It is ideal woven, knitted or crocheted.
After spun or felted: Handwashable. Lay flat to dry.
Wool fibers Felt well. Whether you are making traditional "wet-rubbed" felt or dry felting using a felting needle.

Natural White Polwarth 23-25 micron (58-60’s count), with excellent length (4.5-5 inches) and crimp. Noted for its elasticity, durability it is still considered a delicate fiber with bounce and drape. Breed is from the crossing of Saxon Merino rams and Lincoln ewes.

Light Grey Herdwick wool top is coarse and hardy with a good amount of kemp. 40 microns. Staple length 3.5 inches (85-90mm). Product of England.

Jacob wool is a medium quality wool. Grey in color. 33-35 Micron. Staple length 3.5 inches (85-95mm). Perfect for hand spinning, hand felting and many other craft uses.
Brown Jacob Jacob sheep AKA spotted sheep. The brown select Jacob wool has been hand picked from the fleece and processed to keep the rich brown color. Jacob is easy to spin and produces a springy yarn.

Lock length approx 8".
Hand processed without harsh chemicals. You may find pieces of vegetation &/or a coating of natural oils still left on the fibers.
These locks are not combed or super clean. I don’t use commercial chemicals, yuk! or excessive hot water.
Depending on your use you may want to give the locks an additional wash.
Add shampoo (or wool wash if handy) to water as hot as your water heater can do in a sink or wash tub, wear gloves to protect your hands, hold the cut ends, and give it a gentle swirl. Allow it to soak, but remove before the water cools. Gently Rinse with warm water. If you want brushed, suggest using a flick carder on dried wool. Start combing by tapping from the lock end. Hold the cut end. A smooth cloth on your lap is recommended. Work your way up the lock. Lock may become fluffy. Still holding cut end, dip into warm water with hair conditioner added. Squeeze out water, lay out flat on towels to air dry.
